March is here, and we all love this time of year with longer days and warming temperatures.
But the winter of 2025-2026 wasn’t all darkness and cold!
At BDBF, our attorneys had some great times this winter! Here, we share some of our favorite personal winter moments outside the office:

My favorite winter moment was getting to see my 2 ½ year-old nephew walk downstairs on Christmas morning to see all the presents that Santa left for him. It has been a long time since there were young kids in my family, so having a kid again really brought back a lot of the holiday magic!

I very much enjoyed playing in the snow in Michigan with my little niece and nephew. My own kids are now too old and too cool to act excited when it snows. I also came very close to completing a real-life igloo using bricks cut from the “snow-crete” that lingered here in Maryland for two weeks. Alas, I only thought to use a chainsaw instead of a hand saw one day before it started to melt. Had it not been for work and family obligations, I might have had the benefit of a fully operational igloo for several days before it all melted. Instead, I was left with a chest-high igloo and a drive to finish it the next time we get enough snow.

I have two winter moments that stand out. The first was my annual Christmas Eve father-daughter trip to Hershey Park. No traffic, no lines, lots of chocolate, and my daughter calling me names for riding one of my favorite amusement park rides–The Park Bench By the Entrance to the Crazy Roller Coaster. The second was taking my 9-year-old niece and 7-year-old nephew to my happy place, Xfinity Center in College Park, for their first-ever Maryland basketball game. And in a season to forget, Maryland actually won! The kids learned a few new grown-up words from the students, met Testudo, and we all had a blast–especially when the score hit “67” on the scoreboard!

As I write this, I’m on the tarmac at Dulles Airport about to depart. While I have had many happy winter moments, I suspect a favorite may be ahead this weekend, as I meet my three best friends from law school in Spain for a few days of reconnection. This trip happens to coincide with our 20th law school reunion!

My favorite moment, as usual, involves family, beautiful sunny weather, and lacrosse. We took a family trip to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for a national youth lacrosse tournament where my son played and I coached. My son’s team repeated as tournament champions of The Holiday Bowl. I got stopped by TSA on the way home for the crystal championship trophy I was carrying on the plane, but it was totally worth it!
